About Inkway

Inkway turns a drawn line into a road. Every level shows a car, a starting point and a finish, with obstacles and dangerous areas placed in between. You draw a line across the screen from start to finish, that line becomes the road, and once it is complete the car sets off and drives along it toward the destination.

The difficulty lives in the planning, not the driving. The car simply follows what you give it, so the shape of your road decides everything. A route that keeps clear of hazards brings the car home safely, while a careless one can make it crash or leave it stuck before it arrives. Each level becomes a short exercise in reading the layout, imagining the car's path and only then committing to a line, and there is room for creativity in how you get from one end to the other.

How to play Inkway

Objective

Lay down a road linking the start with the finish so the car can follow it to the destination without crashing or getting stuck.

Controls

Desktop

  • Draw a line on the screen: build the road the car will follow

Getting started

  1. Before drawing anything, look at where the car begins, where the finish sits and which obstacles or danger zones lie between them.
  2. Picture the route the car will take and keep it well away from hazards, since the car simply follows the road you make.
  3. Draw your line from the starting point all the way to the finish, so it becomes a complete road for the car.
  4. Once the path is done, watch the car set off along it and see whether it reaches the destination safely.
  5. If the car crashes or gets stuck, look at where the road let it down before you draw again.

Tips

  • Give obstacles and dangerous areas a wide berth when you draw, since a road that runs into one is the usual reason the car crashes.
  • Watch for shapes that could trap the car, because a badly designed road can leave it stuck short of the destination even without a crash.
  • Plan the whole route before you start the line, as the car sets off once the path is complete and follows it without any steering from you.
  • Make sure the line really connects to the finish, because the road has to run all the way from the starting point to the destination.

Inkway FAQ

How does Inkway work?

You draw a line on the screen from where the car starts to the finish, and it becomes a road. When the path is complete, the car drives along it toward the destination, so the shape you draw decides the outcome.

Why does the car crash or stop?

Usually the road is the problem. A route that runs into obstacles or dangerous areas makes the car crash, and a poorly shaped road can leave it stuck before it reaches the destination. Redraw with more room around the hazards.

Do you steer the car in Inkway?

No. The car follows the road you draw, setting off once the path is complete. Your influence comes entirely from planning and drawing a route that avoids obstacles and dangerous areas on the way to the finish.

What skills does Inkway reward?

Planning and creativity. Each level is about reading the layout, picturing where the car will travel and drawing a path that keeps it clear of hazards, rather than about fast reactions or precise driving.
