Strategy games

Plan your move, protect your base, and think ahead.

Think a few moves ahead

Strategy games reward patience. This collection mixes classic board games such as chess, checkers, backgammon, four-in-a-row and a hidden-fleet grid hunt with tower defense and a fantasy real-time campaign. Some board games let you practice against the computer or sit down with a friend, so you can pick the kind of opponent that suits your mood.

Read the board before you move

On a board game, check what your opponent could do next before settling on your own plan. In four-in-a-row, watch for lines that could finish in two directions at once. In a grid hunt, let each hit and miss narrow down where the next ship might be. Small, safe moves early often set up the winning one later.

Build defenses that cover each other

Tower defense games are won at the planning stage. Place towers where the path bends so they can reach enemies for longer, and mix defenses that handle different threats. Keep something in reserve for upgrades instead of spending everything on the first wave. If a wave breaks through, note where it happened and strengthen that spot next time.
