About Eggy Car

Eggy Car gives you a small car, an egg riding loose on top of it and a road of hills that rarely flattens out. The aim is distance: keep driving forward, and the run lasts until the egg rolls off and cracks. There are only two inputs, gas and brake, but the egg reacts to every change in speed, so each one has to be used with care.

Hills are where runs are won or lost. Climbing too fast, braking too hard at the top or racing down the far side can shift the egg's weight and send it tumbling. The skill lies in finding a rhythm between accelerating and braking that keeps the car moving while the egg stays balanced. Because a run ends the moment the egg falls, every attempt is a fresh chance to push the distance a little further than the last.

How to play Eggy Car

Objective

Drive as far as possible over the hills without letting the egg fall off the car and crack.

Controls

Desktop

  • Arrow keys: accelerate and brake

Mobile

  • Tap the paddles: accelerate and brake

Getting started

  1. Start a run and press the accelerate arrow key gently, or tap the gas paddle on a phone, to get the car rolling.
  2. Watch the egg as you reach the first hill, and keep your speed modest on the climb so it stays in place.
  3. Near the top, ease off and use the brake briefly so the car does not throw the egg as it crests.
  4. On the way down, alternate small brake and gas inputs to control speed rather than letting the car run away.
  5. When the egg falls and cracks, start again and aim to beat the distance of your previous run.

Tips

  • The egg's weight shifts when you crest or drop over a hill, so brake before the top rather than on it.
  • Sudden changes in speed are what unsettle the egg, so short, light presses of gas and brake work better than holding either one down.
  • On a downhill, a little brake stops the egg from sliding forward, and gentle gas on the next climb stops it from rolling back.
  • Distance is the only measure, so a slow, steady run that keeps the egg safe beats a fast one that ends on the second hill.

Eggy Car FAQ

How do you lose in Eggy Car?

The run ends when the egg falls off your car and cracks. Hills are the main danger, because climbing or descending them shifts the egg's weight, so careful speed control is what keeps a run going.

What are the controls on a phone?

Two on-screen paddles. Tap one to accelerate and the other to brake, the same two actions the arrow keys handle on a computer, so the game plays the same way on both.

Is driving fast a good idea?

Rarely. Speed helps on climbs, but the faster you crest a hill the more likely the egg is to bounce loose. Balancing gas and brake matters far more than raw speed for a long run.

What is the goal of each run?

Cover as much distance as you can before the egg drops. Each run is one drive across hilly terrain, and the farther you get, the better the run, so every attempt is about beating your last distance.
