About Bus Driver Simulator 3D

Bus Driver Simulator 3D opens in a bus depot. The top bar tracks your level, experience, kilometers driven and hours behind the wheel, and the garage has a white Downtown city bus ready to go, with coaches, a school bus, a prison bus and a double-decker waiting behind experience locks. The Los Angeles tutorial starts with three cards: W, S, A and D drive the bus, white arrows painted on the road lead to the next stop, and the rules are to drive carefully, keep passengers happy and stay on time.

Driving is weighty and unforgiving. The bus needs a few seconds to build speed, steering swings hard if you hold it, and every bump into a car, curb or lamp post flashes Crash! and takes 10 points off the route score. Career mode spreads its routes over at least twelve maps, from Los Angeles, Paris and Rome to Alaska, Moscow and a Highway map, with Route 1 open in most of them and later routes locked. A second mode on the menu drops you on a map with no clock.

How to play Bus Driver Simulator 3D

Objective

On each Career route, follow the arrows to every bus stop and keep the passengers happy while staying on time and avoiding crashes. Experience, shown in the top bar, opens the bigger buses at 5,000 up to 70,000.

Controls

Desktop

  • W key: accelerate (about 26 on the speedometer after six seconds)
  • S key: brake, then reverse once the bus has stopped
  • A and D keys: steer left and right; short presses keep the bus in its lane
  • Escape or the pause button at the top left: open RESUME, RESTART and MAIN MENU
  • Mouse: click menu buttons such as CAREER, PREVIOUS, NEXT, INFO and SELECT

Mobile

  • Gas pedal at the bottom right (press and hold): accelerate
  • Brake pedal beside it: slow down and stop
  • Large arrow buttons at the bottom left: steer
  • D and R buttons on the right: switch between drive and reverse

Getting started

  1. On the main menu choose CAREER; the tile marked with a video icon and +3000 experiences plays a video, so it can be skipped.
  2. In CHOOSE BUS press SELECT on the white Downtown bus, the only one open at the start; INFO lists each bus's horsepower, torque and passengers.
  3. On SELECT MAP stay on Los Angeles and press TUTORIAL, because Route 1 to Route 4 there are locked at first.
  4. Read the CONTROL, ROUTE and GOOD LUCK cards, close them, then hold W to roll out of the depot and turn onto the street.
  5. Follow the white arrows on the road to the next stop, braking early with S before corners and keeping clear of other cars.

Tips

  • Tap the steering keys instead of holding them: a long press at low speed swung the bus across the road and into a lamp post, while short taps kept it in lane.
  • Every collision shows Crash! and subtracts 10, and grinding against a car or curb can trigger it again and again; stop, back off with S, then pull away gently.
  • Brake early for each stop: from about 50 on the speedometer it took over a second of holding S to stop, so start slowing as soon as the shelter comes into view.
  • On a phone, turn the device sideways before loading, since portrait shows only a Rotate your device screen.

Bus Driver Simulator 3D FAQ

What modes does Bus Driver Simulator 3D have?

The main menu offers Career and Free Ride. Career sends you along numbered routes with a clock, bus stops and crash penalties. Free Ride lets you pick Paris, Rome, Los Angeles, Alaska, Berlin or Highway and simply drive, with the timer sitting at 00:00. No separate racing mode appears on the menu.

How do you unlock new buses?

Buses unlock with experience, shown in the top bar. The white Downtown bus is open from the start; the rest read UNLOCK AT 5,000, 10,000, 20,000 and so on up to 70,000 experience. They include a red coach, a prison bus, a yellow school bus and a double-decker coach with 82 passenger seats.

How many maps does Career mode have?

At least twelve maps appear in Career: Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Alaska, Romania, German Countryside, New York, Chicago, Moscow, Highway and Washington. Each has four or five routes. Los Angeles starts with only its tutorial open, while the other maps have Route 1 unlocked.

Can you drive the bus on a phone?

Yes, in landscape. Portrait shows a Rotate your device message. Turned sideways, the screen adds a gas pedal and a brake pedal at the bottom right, large steering arrows at the bottom left, D and R gear buttons, a horn and a camera button.
