About Decode the Movie Quote
Decode the Movie Quote hides a famous film line behind rows of blank tiles and asks you to rebuild it one letter at a time. An on-screen keyboard is your tool: pick a letter and see whether it belongs in the quote. Film knowledge helps you jump ahead once a few words show through, while word-puzzle instincts carry you when the movie is not obvious.
The keys do a lot of the bookkeeping for you. A dark key tells you the letter has no tiles left to fill, a yellow key means it still appears somewhere in the phrase, and a red key means it is not in the quote at all. Selecting a yellow letter highlights where it goes. A hint is there for when you are truly stuck, and you can play alone or turn it into a contest with friends over who recognizes the most lines.

How to play Decode the Movie Quote
Objective
Guess the letters of each hidden movie quote until the full line is revealed, using the color of every key to steer your next guess.
Controls
Desktop
- On-screen keyboard: click a letter to guess it
- Yellow key: click it to highlight where that letter appears in the phrase
Mobile
- On-screen keyboard: tap a letter to guess it
- Yellow key: tap it to highlight that letter's positions
Getting started
- Look at the blank tiles to see how long the quote is and how its words are split.
- Guess a common letter on the on-screen keyboard to start filling in the hidden phrase.
- Read the key colors after each guess: dark means fully placed, yellow means still in the phrase, red means absent.
- Select a yellow key to highlight where that letter sits, then use the pattern to recognize words.
- Use a hint if the quote refuses to come together, then finish filling every tile.
Tips
- Never pick a red key again: it marks a letter that is not in the quote, so it cannot help you fill a single tile.
- Use yellow keys to locate letters still missing; highlighting their positions often reveals a short word like the or and.
- Once a key turns dark, cross that letter off mentally, since every instance of it is already placed in the phrase.
- Guess the film early: once a few words show, knowing the movie can let you fill the rest of the line from memory.
