About The Road Home: Granny Escape

The Road Home: Granny Escape begins with a bus trip that goes wrong. A huge tree comes down across a forest road, you step out to look, and you wake inside a locked house with boarded windows and sealed doors. Granny and her husband brought you there on purpose, and they have no intention of letting you leave.

Getting out is a first-person stealth puzzle. Rooms hide items such as blue keycards and a crowbar that pries open vents, and a crafting system lets you combine what you collect into new tools from the inventory. Both captors hunt by sound: footsteps on wooden floors, dropped items and sprinting all draw them, so crouching and moving slowly keep you hidden, and closets and furniture offer cover while Grandpa patrols with a bat. There is more than one way out, hidden endings reward clever item combinations, and low-poly visuals keep the atmosphere heavy.

How to play The Road Home: Granny Escape

Objective

Escape the locked house without being caught by Granny and Grandpa, finding and crafting the items that open new paths toward one of the ways out.

Controls

Desktop

  • W A S D: move
  • Mouse: look around and aim
  • C: crouch
  • Space: jump
  • Q: open the shop and inventory

Phones and tablets are not supported; the game is built for desktop browsers only.

Getting started

  1. Get your bearings in the locked room, using the mouse to look around and W A S D to move.
  2. Search drawers, tables and corners for useful items such as keycards and tools.
  3. Press C to crouch whenever you hear footsteps, since Granny and Grandpa track you by sound.
  4. Open your inventory with Q to combine collected items into tools like keys or a crowbar.
  5. Use those tools to unlock rooms, pry open vents and work toward an exit while staying out of sight.

Tips

  • Sound gives you away, so crouch and walk instead of sprinting, and avoid dropping items when either captor might hear.
  • Hide in closets or behind furniture when someone comes close, then study their patrol before moving again.
  • Draw the captors to one side of the house and then double back, a trick that opens routes they are no longer guarding.
  • Explore every floor, including balconies and dark hallways, because multiple escape paths and secret endings reward thorough searching.

The Road Home: Granny Escape FAQ

How do Granny and Grandpa find you?

They react to sound. Footsteps, dropped items and running all draw their attention, so crouching with C and moving slowly through dangerous areas is the best way to stay hidden.

What is the crafting system for?

Collected resources can be combined in your inventory, opened with Q, to create tools such as keys or crowbars. Those items unlock new areas, like locked rooms and vents, on the way out.

Can you play The Road Home: Granny Escape on a phone?

No. It is made for desktop browsers only and uses keys and the mouse: W A S D to move, the mouse to look, C to crouch, Space to jump and Q for the inventory.

Is there more than one ending?

Yes. There are several ways out of the house, and hidden endings open up when you find particular item combinations and solve certain puzzles, so it rewards exploring every corner.
