About Tick-Tack-What?

Tick-Tack-What? starts from the most familiar game there is: you place Xs and try to get three in a row. The difference is the opponent. The bot on the other side has no interest in fair play, and every board becomes a contest between your plan and its next dirty trick.

Its tricks escalate as you go. It can wipe your Xs off the grid, lock cells so they can no longer be used, drop bombs onto the board and even announce a victory it did not earn. Gravity can shift and the board can glitch, while the shapes themselves grow more complex and irregular from one stage to the next. Memorized openings are of little use here; what wins is reading each new layout, spotting which cells are still active and adapting the moment the rules bend.

How to play Tick-Tack-What?

Objective

Form a line of three Xs on every board while the cheating AI erases marks, locks cells, bombs the grid and tries to fake its own wins.

Controls

Desktop

  • Click an active cell: place your X there

Getting started

  1. Look over the board shape first, since later boards grow irregular instead of staying a plain three-by-three grid.
  2. Click an active cell to drop your X into it, choosing one that could still belong to several possible lines of three.
  3. Watch what the bot does after each move: it may erase an X, lock a cell or drop a bomb onto the board.
  4. Rebuild your plan around whichever cells are still active, and keep pushing toward a line of three.
  5. Expect the bot to bend the rules again on the next board, where the layout becomes more complex than the last.

Tips

  • Because the bot can erase your Xs, avoid relying on a single mark; place Xs that serve two lines so losing one does not wreck the plan.
  • Locked cells drop out of play, so after each lock recount which lines of three are still possible before you click again.
  • Treat every board shape as new; on irregular layouts the winning line may run where a standard grid would not even have a cell.
  • When gravity shifts or the board glitches, the layout can change between turns, so look again before choosing your next cell.

Tick-Tack-What? FAQ

Is Tick-Tack-What? just regular tic-tac-toe?

No. You still place Xs and aim for three in a row, but the AI cheats openly. It erases your marks, locks cells, drops bombs on the board and fakes victories, and the boards get more complex and irregular as you progress.

How do you place a mark?

Click any active cell to put your X there. Cells the bot has locked cannot be used, so the set of active cells changes during a board and your options shift as it plays its tricks.

What do the gravity and glitch effects do?

They are part of the bot's rule-breaking toolkit and make the board mutate in ways that are hard to predict. Instead of a memorized strategy, you need to adapt to the layout in front of you after each turn.
