About Solitaire: The Eternal Deck

Solitaire: The Eternal Deck plays by the familiar rules of classic card solitaire. The aim is to move the whole deck onto four foundation piles, one per suit, each built up in order from ace to king. On the playing field, cards stack downward in alternating colors, so a red card one rank lower sits on a black card, and only a king can fill an empty space. You can shift single cards or whole correctly ordered runs, and clicking the deck draws a new card, with a refresh button to restore it once it runs dry.

Several conveniences sit on top of the rules. A single tap or click plays the right move automatically, undo is unlimited, and once all hidden cards are face up the game finishes itself. Cards already sent home can be brought back to the field when needed, and bonus points reward placing a card on the field before moving it to a foundation. Deals are generated with a higher chance of being solvable.

How to play Solitaire: The Eternal Deck

Objective

Move every card onto four foundation piles, one per suit, building each pile in ascending order from ace up to king.

Controls

Desktop

  • Drag: move a card or a valid sequence
  • Click a card: play its correct move automatically
  • Click the deck: draw a new card
  • Refresh button: restore the deck once it is empty
  • Undo: step back a move

Mobile

  • Single tap: play the correct move for a card
  • Drag: carry a card or a run of cards elsewhere

Getting started

  1. Look over the playing field for aces and for cards that can go one rank lower onto an opposite color.
  2. Tap or click a card to let the game play its correct move, or drag it where you want it.
  3. Click the deck to draw a new card when the field has no useful moves left.
  4. Uncover face-down cards and move a king into any empty space, since nothing else can go there.
  5. Use the refresh button when the deck runs out, and undo freely if a line of play goes wrong.
  6. Keep building the four foundations until every hidden card is revealed and auto-complete finishes the game.

Tips

  • Play cards to the field before sending them home when you can, because placing a card on the field first and then on a foundation earns bonus points.
  • Lean on the unlimited undo to try out a risky sequence, then step back if it leads nowhere.
  • Uncover a king before you empty a column, since only a king can occupy an empty space and the spot is wasted without one.
  • Pull a card back from a foundation when it unlocks a move on the field; the rules allow cards in a home to return.

Solitaire: The Eternal Deck FAQ

What does a single tap do in Solitaire: The Eternal Deck?

Tapping or clicking a card makes the game carry out the correct move for it automatically, so you do not have to drag. You can still drag cards and whole sequences by hand when you want to place them somewhere specific.

How do you score bonus points?

You earn bonus points by putting a card onto the playing field before moving it up to a foundation, or home, pile. Moving cards straight to the foundations skips that bonus, so routing them through the field can raise your score.

Is there an undo or auto-complete?

Both. Undo is unlimited, so you can step back as many times as you need to find a better line. Once every hidden card has been revealed, auto-complete finishes the game for you.

Are the deals in The Eternal Deck winnable?

The game uses improved deal generation, which gives a higher probability of solvable deals while keeping them interesting. The refresh button also lets you cycle through the deck again once it is empty.
