About Kobadoo Shapes

Kobadoo Shapes is a sequence-memory game about colors and geometry. Each level presents a few shapes one after another, each with a caption naming its color and form, for example “Orange Hexagon” or “Grey Square”. After the last one the captions disappear and a board of plain shapes takes over, grouped by color from white, yellow and orange through red, brown, purple, blue and green to grey and black. You click the shapes in the order they were shown.

The catch is that every color comes in several forms, so a red square can sit beside a red parallelogram, and a diamond, trapezoid or rectangle is easy to confuse with its neighbor. Levels 1 to 3 use two shapes and level 4 moves to three, across 31 levels, while each board loses one shape. Because each caption spells out the name, the game doubles as practice in reading color and shape words.

How to play Kobadoo Shapes

Objective

Pick the shapes in the order they were presented, without a single wrong choice, to clear each level, and work through the 31 levels as the sequences lengthen.

Controls

Desktop

  • Mouse click on a shape: choose it as the next shape in the sequence

Mobile

  • Tap a shape: select it; in portrait the board shows five shapes per row
  • Tap Restart Game: start a fresh run from level 1

Getting started

  1. The first shape appears as soon as loading ends, so read its caption, such as “Blue Circle”, while you study the picture.
  2. Remember both the color and the form, because the board will contain that color in several different shapes.
  3. When the captionless board shows up, find the right color group first and then click the exact shape inside it.
  4. Finish both picks to reach “Level 1 of 31 completed!”, after which the next pair of shapes starts on its own.
  5. A wrong pick lights the correct shape in green and opens the Game Over card, where Restart Game begins a new run.

Tips

  • Store each shape as color plus name, like “grey square, white pentagon”; the board is grouped by color, so the color tells you which part of the board to look at.
  • Squares and rectangles, and diamonds and parallelograms, look alike at a glance, so check the corners and slant before clicking; one error ends the run.
  • Count sides when a pentagon and a hexagon share a color, since both can appear in the same color group on one board.
  • From level 4 there are three shapes to hold, so chain them into one phrase as they appear, such as “black star, orange square, green square”.

Kobadoo Shapes FAQ

Which shapes appear in Kobadoo Shapes?

The boards mix circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, diamonds, parallelograms, trapezoids, pentagons, hexagons and stars. They come in white, yellow, orange, red, brown, purple, blue, green, grey and black, and the captions name them, for example “Brown Diamond”.

Do children need to read to play Kobadoo Shapes?

Not strictly. Every shape is shown as a picture before the board appears, so a child can match by sight alone. The caption under each one, such as “Red Parallelogram”, adds the written name, which makes it handy for practicing color and shape words.

How does Kobadoo Shapes get harder?

Sequences start at two shapes for the first three levels and grow to three at level 4. Meanwhile the board loses a shape each level, and similar forms in the same color make careful looking matter more than speed.

Can you play Kobadoo Shapes on a touchscreen?

Yes. On a phone held upright the board arranges shapes five to a row, and a tap selects a shape exactly like a mouse click. Restart Game, shown after a mistake, also responds to a tap.
