About Master Chess Multiplayer
Master Chess Multiplayer is the classic board game with a choice of opponent. You can take on the computer, or face real players from around the world. The rules are the familiar ones: pieces move across the board, and the aim is to capture the opposing king, which in chess means trapping it in checkmate before your own king falls.
Moves are made by picking up a piece and dragging it to the square you want. Because there are two kinds of opponent, the game works for practice and for competition alike: the computer gives you a steady sparring partner, while human players bring the unpredictability of a real match. The board adjusts to how you hold your phone, and desktop browsers can open it as well.

How to play Master Chess Multiplayer
Objective
Checkmate your opponent's king before they checkmate yours, whether you are playing the computer or a real player from elsewhere in the world.
Controls
Desktop
- Click a piece and drag it: move it to the square you want
Mobile
- Drag a piece: move it to its new square
Getting started
- Choose whether to play against the computer or against real players from around the world.
- Hold the phone in either direction, since the board adapts to both, or play at a computer.
- To move, click the piece you want and drag it to its new square; on a phone, drag it the same way.
- Open with your central pawns and knights, then bring out the rest of your pieces before attacking.
- Look for ways to trap the opposing king, and be the first to deliver checkmate.
Tips
- Against real players, take your time before each drag; once a piece is dropped on a square, that is your move.
- Use the computer opponent to practise openings and endgames before taking on players from around the world.
- Since the goal is the king, keep your own safe by castling early; an exposed king loses games quickly against a sharp opponent.

Master Chess Multiplayer FAQ
Can you play Master Chess Multiplayer against people?
Yes. Besides the computer opponent, you can play real players from all over the world. Matches follow the classic rules, and the first side to deliver checkmate wins.
How do you move a piece?
Click on the piece and drag it to the square you want. On a phone or tablet, you drag it the same way, and the piece settles on the new square to complete the move.
Does the chess board work in portrait mode?
It does. The game adapts to both portrait and landscape, so you can hold a phone whichever way gives you the clearer view of the board, and it also plays in desktop browsers.
