About Picky Parking

Picky Parking is a calm logic puzzle played with colorful toy cars on a grid. Every car carries a fixed amount of fuel, and each square it travels burns one unit. A board counts as solved only when three rules hold together: all the fuel is spent, every row and every column holds exactly one car, and no two cars are neighbors, not even corner to corner.

Some cars wear a lock and cannot move, so the rest of the arrangement has to form around them. Five short interactive lessons introduce the rules before puzzles open up in Easy, Normal and Hard. Help is generous: you can undo moves, reset the board, ask for a hint or send a car back to its start, which also undoes everything done since that car first moved. A handful of hints come included, and watching a video for more is optional.

How to play Picky Parking

Objective

Move the cars so each one spends all its fuel, every row and column ends up with exactly one car, and no two cars are adjacent, even diagonally.

Controls

Desktop

  • Drag a car: move it to a square it can reach
  • Click a car, then a square: send it there
  • Number keys: select a car
  • Arrow keys or WASD: steer the chosen car
  • Z: undo a move
  • R: reset the puzzle
  • H: ask for a hint
  • E: open Settings

Mobile

  • Tap a car, then a square: move it there
  • Drag a car: move it to a reachable square
  • On-screen controls: every other action on touch devices

Getting started

  1. Begin with the five interactive lessons, which teach the fuel, row and column, and no-neighbors rules before the real puzzles start.
  2. Pick a difficulty from Easy, Normal or Hard, starting low while you get used to juggling all three rules at once.
  3. Count each car's fuel against the distance to where it could finish, since every square traveled costs exactly one unit.
  4. Move a car by dragging it, by clicking or tapping it and then its destination, or with the number keys and arrows.
  5. Build the arrangement around any locked cars, then finish once every car is out of fuel and no two cars are adjacent.

Tips

  • Start from the locked cars: each one already fills a row and a column, which rules out those lines and every square around it for the others.
  • Use Z freely while experimenting, because a move that spends fuel in the wrong direction can be taken back before it ruins the count.
  • Sending a car back to its start also rewinds everything done after its first trip, so check what else will be undone before you use it.
  • Every car must burn all its fuel, so a car with lots of fuel may need a roundabout route even to a nearby end square.
  • The included hints run out, but watching a video for another is optional; R and undo let you keep trying ideas without one.

Picky Parking FAQ

What counts as a solved puzzle in Picky Parking?

Three conditions at the same time: no car has any fuel left, every row and every column has one car and only one, and no car sits beside another, diagonals included. Locked cars stay where they are throughout.

What do the Z, R, H and E keys do?

Z undoes your last move, R resets the whole puzzle, H asks for a hint and E opens Settings. Number keys pick a car, and the arrow keys or WASD move it, while touch devices use on-screen controls.

Do you need to watch videos to get hints?

No. Some hints are free, and after they are used up, a video for an extra hint is entirely your choice. The puzzle stays fully playable without it, and undo and reset are there for trying new arrangements.
