About Emily's Hotel Solitaire

Emily's Hotel Solitaire pairs a quick card rule with a building project. Emily has come to a tropical island to make her grandfather Douglas Kirby's dream of his own hotel come true, and the card levels are how that happens. On each table you have a drawn card and a field of cards; pick any field card one value higher or lower than the drawn card and it is removed.

Removals chain, so picking one step up or down from each new card can clear a long stretch of the field in one go. Clear every card before your draw supply runs out to finish the level and collect Stars. Those Stars turn an empty plot into a resort: you choose carpets, soft little sofas and a picture gallery, plant green parks and flowerbeds, make the rooms cozy and even plan the Chinese restaurant's menu.

How to play Emily's Hotel Solitaire

Objective

Clear every card from the playing field by picking cards one value above or below your drawn card before the draw supply runs out, then spend the Stars on Emily's hotel.

Getting started

  1. Look at your drawn card and scan the playing field for any card one value higher or lower.
  2. Select a matching card to remove it; it then becomes the card you build from for the next pick.
  3. Keep chaining picks one step up or down while the field still offers a match.
  4. When no field card fits, draw a new card from your supply and start a fresh chain.
  5. Clear the whole field before the supply is empty, then spend the Stars you earn on decorating the hotel.

Tips

  • Before drawing, check every field card for a one-up or one-down match, because each draw uses up the supply you need to finish.
  • Look a few moves ahead in a chain; taking a card that leaves another match available is better than one that ends the chain.
  • Plan how to spend Stars: they decide which part of the hotel changes next, from carpets and sofas to parks and the restaurant menu.
  • Since running out of draw cards ends the attempt, long chains are the real goal; every removal without a draw saves supply for later.

Emily's Hotel Solitaire FAQ

What is the card rule in Emily's Hotel Solitaire?

Any field card whose value sits exactly one above or one below your drawn card can be picked, and picking it removes it. Keep chaining from the last card played to clear several in a row.

What do Stars do?

Stars come from completed levels and are spent on the hotel. They let you choose furnishings like carpets and soft little sofas, plant gardens and flowerbeds, and shape what was once an empty plot.

Who is Emily and why is she building a hotel?

Emily has traveled to a tropical island to fulfill the dream of her grandfather, Douglas Kirby, whose wish was a hotel of his own. Every level you win brings that hotel a step closer.

When do you lose a level?

A level fails if your supply of draw cards runs out while cards remain on the playing field. Making long chains of one-up or one-down picks is the best way to avoid that.
