About Get a screw: puzzle!

Get a screw: puzzle! is a 3D brain teaser built around screws and the mechanisms they belong to. Every level is a separate task: a model sits in the scene, and you have to work out which details that stage needs, then select them both accurately and quickly. Because the model is three-dimensional, turning it around and moving the view in or out are part of solving each stage, not just a way to admire it.

Handling stays light on both platforms. With a mouse, the left button picks the colour you want, the scroll wheel brings the view closer or pushes it away, and pressing and dragging to the sides spins the model. On a smartphone, pressing a screw with your finger takes it, and a press-and-drag sideways rotates the scene. The developer pitches the game at children and adults alike as a mix of play and mind training, says the tasks grow more interesting as you go, and adds new levels over time.

How to play Get a screw: puzzle!

Objective

Work out which screws and details each level asks for and select them accurately and quickly, turning the 3D model to reach the right parts.

Controls

Desktop

  • Left mouse button: press the colour you need to select it
  • Scroll wheel: move the view closer to the model or further away
  • Press and drag sideways: rotate the model

Mobile

  • Finger press on a screw: take that screw
  • Press and drag sideways: rotate the model

Getting started

  1. Look over the 3D model when the level opens and note where its screws sit before you select anything.
  2. Rotate the model by pressing and dragging to the sides so you can check every side of the mechanism.
  3. On a computer, scroll the mouse wheel to move in when you need a closer look at a small screw.
  4. Select the colour or screw the task calls for, with the left mouse button on desktop or a finger press on a phone.
  5. Keep choosing the necessary details until the mechanism is complete, then carry on to the task the following stage sets.

Tips

  • Turn the model all the way around before your first pick; seeing every side helps you choose the detail the level wants instead of guessing.
  • Speed counts, but so does accuracy, so slow down a little on a harder task rather than grabbing a screw you are unsure about.
  • After zooming in on a screw, scroll back out to see how it sits in the whole mechanism before deciding what to take next.
  • Come back for fresh stages, since new levels are added and the later tasks are described as more interesting than the early ones.

Get a screw: puzzle! FAQ

How do you turn the 3D model around?

Press and drag to the sides. That works with the mouse on a computer and with your finger on a smartphone. Turning the model lets you look at the mechanism from different angles before you pick the screw a level needs.

Can you zoom in on the mechanism?

Yes. On a computer, the mouse wheel brings the view closer to the model or moves it back out, which helps when a screw is small. On a phone, you press a screw with your finger to take it and drag sideways to spin the model.

Who is Get a screw: puzzle! made for?

It is aimed at both children and adults. The developer describes it as a blend of fun and mind training, where every level is its own task and the handling stays light while the puzzles grow more interesting.
