About Planet 404. Episode 1
Planet 404. Episode 1 strands Alice, a brave and curious explorer, on a strange planet full of secrets. Uncovering what this world is hiding means crossing its landscapes on foot and working out the puzzles that block the way. Each puzzle solved and each obstacle cleared moves the story on and opens another chapter of her adventure.
Movement is classic platforming: run left or right and jump. Later on, at a certain level, Alice also gains the ability to fire shots, which adds a new tool for getting past what stands in front of her. The art is bright and colorful, and the music leans into a sense of magic and mystery. Keyboard players run with A and D, or with the arrows, and jump with the space bar, while phones and tablets get on-screen arrows at the bottom of the display and a fire icon button.

Objective
Guide Alice across the mysterious planet by running, jumping and later shooting, solving the puzzles in her way to uncover its secrets and unlock each new chapter of the story.
Controls
Desktop
- D or Right Arrow: run right
- A or Left Arrow: run left
- Space bar or Up Arrow: jump
Mobile
- On-screen right arrow: run right
- On-screen left arrow: run left
- On-screen up arrow: jump
- Fire icon button: fire a shot, once shooting becomes available
Getting started
- Start Episode 1 and get used to moving Alice with D and A, the arrow keys, or the on-screen arrows.
- Jump with the space bar or the up arrow to climb ledges and cross the first gaps in the landscape.
- When a puzzle blocks the path, look around the scene for what needs solving before pushing on.
- Clear each obstacle in turn to reveal the next chapter of Alice's story on the planet.
- Once shooting becomes available at a certain level, start using it; on a phone or tablet it sits on the fire icon button.
Tips
- Shooting only arrives at a certain level, so expect the early puzzles to be solved with running and jumping alone.
- On a phone, keep your thumbs near the on-screen arrows along the lower edge, since running and jumping both live there.
- Each solved puzzle opens a new chapter, so treat a blocked path as something to study rather than a jump to repeat blindly.
- The up arrow doubles as jump on a keyboard, so players who prefer the arrow keys can run and jump with one hand.
