About Pistonio
Pistonio is a calm 3D puzzle game with a single core action: fire a piston and it shoves whatever sits in front of it. On every board the task is to get a golden cube onto a marked plate, using as few moves as you can manage. There are 84 handcrafted levels spread over five planets, plus a new puzzle each day, and matching the par move count earns three stars.
The boards get interesting through their parts. Sticky pistons pull blocks back as well as pushing them, pressure plates keep gates open only while a block rests on them, and sensors likewise hold a gate open while occupied. Conveyors slide every piece along once a move is done, and rotators spin any piston that ends up on top of them. Because move order matters so much, undo, restart and a hint are always available. Each cleared level pays out a chest holding musicians; put twelve together on an island and they play a full song.

How to play Pistonio
Objective
Push the golden cube onto the marked goal plate on each board, ideally within the par move count for three stars, and collect musicians from the chests you earn.
Controls
Desktop
- Click a piston: fire it and shove whatever is ahead
- Z: undo the last move
- Compass: rotate the camera
- + and −: zoom in and out
Mobile
- Tap a piston: fire it so it shoves the block ahead
- Undo, restart and hint buttons: step back, reset or get help
- Compass: rotate the camera
- + and −: zoom in and out
Getting started
- Study the board first: find the golden cube, the marked goal plate and every piston that could push the cube toward it.
- Rotate the camera with the compass and zoom with + and − until you can see the line each piston pushes along.
- Fire a piston with a tap or a click, then watch where the block ahead of it comes to rest.
- Account for conveyors, which slide everything along after every shot, and rotators, which change the direction of any piston that stops on them.
- If the cube gets wedged in a corner, use Undo or Z to step back, restart the level, or ask for a hint.
Tips
- Plan backwards from the goal plate: work out which piston makes the final push, then how the cube gets in front of it.
- Conveyors move after every shot, so count their shift into each move rather than looking only at the piston's push.
- Use pressure plates as door holders by parking a spare block on one, which keeps its gate open while the golden cube passes.
- If you clear a level over par, restart and look for the shot you could have saved, since only matching par earns three stars.

Pistonio FAQ
How do you get three stars in Pistonio?
Finish the level within the par move count. Every piston shot counts as a move, so a solution that wastes shots still clears the board but misses the top rating.
What do sticky pistons do?
Sticky pistons push like normal ones but also pull blocks back toward themselves. That makes them handy for drawing the golden cube out of a corner where a regular piston could only shove it further in.
What are the musicians in Pistonio?
Each level you clear earns a chest, and musicians live inside the chests. Once twelve are gathered and seated together on an island, it performs a whole song of its own.
Do you need a keyboard to play Pistonio?
No. It plays with one finger on a phone and with the mouse on desktop, and no keyboard is required. On a computer, Z is available as an undo shortcut if you prefer it.
