About Sorcerers Refuge

Sorcerers Refuge opens in a strange living room that has no doors, with whispers behind the walls and darkness all around. The house belongs to a Sorcerer who has bent four demons to his will, and you face a stark choice: find a way out or become another soul in his collection. It is a horror adventure that mixes exploration, riddles, quests and spell-based combat, and the atmosphere is built to be heard, so playing with sound is recommended.

The story is intricate, with intense dialogues and choices that change how events unfold, including how the bosses behave when you meet them. You grow stronger by collecting spells tied to the plot, with ice, fire, transformation and true vision magic in the mix. Hidden rooms, mysterious corridors and sudden traps fill the house, alongside demons, other creatures and a strange Buffoon with motives of his own. A seal-collecting mini-game runs through the main story, and achievements reward completed quests and tasks.

How to play Sorcerers Refuge

Objective

Escape the Sorcerer's doorless refuge by solving its riddles, completing quests and surviving its battles and bosses, rather than becoming another soul in his collection.

Controls

Desktop

  • WASD: move
  • E or left mouse button: cast combat magic
  • 1/2/3/4: use skills
  • F: heal
  • Q: open the diary
  • H: get a hint

  • TAB: open the inventory

Mobile

  • Virtual joystick on the left: move
  • Right-side swipe: rotate the character

Getting started

  1. Turn the sound on before you begin, since the whispers and audio carry much of the tension.
  2. Explore the doorless living room with WASD, or the virtual joystick on a phone, and look for anything you can interact with.
  3. Press Q to open the diary, and press H to get a hint whenever a riddle has you stuck.
  4. Fight back with combat magic on E or the left mouse button, use skills on 1 to 4 and heal with F.
  5. Visit the shop with C and check your inventory with TAB as the story moves forward.
  6. Make dialogue choices carefully, because they shape later events, including how the bosses behave.

Tips

  • Boss behavior depends on the choices you have made, so treat every dialogue decision as preparation for the fights ahead.
  • Leveling up comes from collecting spells tied to the story, so following the main plot is also how you grow strong enough for bosses.
  • Keep F ready for healing during battles, and rotate through the four skill slots instead of leaning on a single attack.
  • Look out for the special seals while exploring, since that collection mini-game is woven into the main story.
  • Press H when a riddle stalls you; the house is full of puzzles, and a hint keeps the story moving.

Sorcerers Refuge FAQ

How do you level up in Sorcerers Refuge?

By collecting spells connected to the storyline. As the plot advances your magic grows, drawing on ice, fire, transformation and true vision, and that growth is what prepares you for the tougher bosses.

Do your choices matter in the story?

Yes. Dialogue choices shape how the story unfolds and can lead to unexpected outcomes. Boss behavior also depends on the decisions you have made, so two players can meet the same boss in different ways.

What are the controls on a phone?

Move with the virtual joystick on the left side and rotate the character by swiping from the right side of the screen. Tap the icon in the center to interact with objects, and tap the menu buttons to navigate.

Should you play Sorcerers Refuge with sound?

Yes, sound is strongly recommended. The whispers and audio are a core part of how the horror atmosphere and tension land, so playing muted takes away much of what the game is built around.
