About A Mother's Grief
A Mother's Grief is a first-person horror investigation set in the winter of 1892, inside a remote cabin. After her daughter Lily died of a fever, a mother named Elara used a forbidden ritual to bring her back, and what returned had black eyes, a voice like static and a habit of speaking in tongues. Eight years on, it is still inside.
You play an investigator who seeks out places with dark histories, and your task is to go in, look around and prove what happened. The cabin can be explored room by room, from the hallway and kitchen to the bedroom, the fireplace nook and an evidence room. Eight haunted objects are hidden there, including Lily's rag doll, a grimoire, a bone blade and a pentagram, and each picture taken with an old film camera counts as proof for the evidence board. The viewfinder tracks battery, remaining shots and the date and time, and a whisper creeps closer the longer you stay. The finale waits at the foot of the bed.

How to play A Mother's Grief
Objective
Find and photograph all eight haunted objects in the cabin, pin the proof to your evidence board, then capture the demon-child on film and escape.
Controls
Desktop
- W, A, S, D: move
- Mouse: look around
- Shift: run
- C: crouch
- E: interact, open doors, pick up gear and pin photos
- F: flashlight, once you have taken the lantern
- Space: raise or lower the camera, once you have it
- Left click: snap a photo through the lens
- Tab: open the journal, once you have the book
- Esc: pause or resume
Getting started
- Walk into the cabin using the W, A, S, D keys and look around with the mouse, holding Shift to run and pressing C to crouch.
- Pick up the gear you find with E, including the lantern for the F flashlight, the camera and the journal book.
- Raise the camera with Space and left click to take a photo through the lens whenever you find a haunted object.
- Press Tab for the journal, where the cabin's history can be read, and use E to pin each photo to the evidence board.
- Once the evidence is gathered, find the demon-child waiting by the bed, get her on film, then get out fast.
Tips
- Watch the viewfinder's battery and shot counters, since the old film camera tracks both and every photo needs to count as evidence.
- Do not linger longer than you need to; the whisper grows closer the longer you stay inside the cabin.
- Grab the lantern early, because the flashlight on F only works after you take it, and the cabin's ceiling lights flicker.
- Search every room, from the kitchen to the fireplace nook; beyond the doll, grimoire, blade, pentagram and demon-child, three more haunted objects are hidden away.

A Mother's Grief FAQ
What do you photograph in A Mother's Grief?
Eight haunted objects, among them the grimoire, the pentagram, Lily's rag doll, the bone blade and the demon-child, with three more hidden around the cabin. Every photo becomes evidence you pin to the board.
How does the evidence board work?
Photos double as evidence. Press Tab to open the journal, where you can read the cabin's history, and pin every proof to the evidence board with E once you have taken the shot.
How does A Mother's Grief end?
The finale puts the demon-child at the foot of the bed. You have to get her on film before she learns your name, then escape the cabin, so keep the camera ready and know your way out.
Is A Mother's Grief a horror game?
Yes. It is a first-person horror game with a dark backstory about a ritual and a returned child, flickering lights, dusty air, and a whisper that keeps getting closer while you search the cabin.
