About Cave Miner

Cave Miner is an idle clicking game set underground. You mine your way down through a series of cave layers, and each layer is made of a different type of ore, so going deeper changes what you are digging up. On a computer the mining is done by clicking, while on a phone the same work is done by tapping. Every layer you break into is another stretch of rock to chip through before the one below opens up.

Progress comes from your tools. Upgrading them is what lets you push into deeper layers, where the ores are rarer and worth more, and that extra value is what pays for the following upgrade. The loop is short and clear: mine, collect, improve, then go further down. The caves change as you descend, which keeps the view from going stale. Computers and phones both run it, with the screen turned to landscape.

How to play Cave Miner

Objective

Mine down through the cave layers, collecting the different ores in each one and upgrading your tools so you can reach deeper, more valuable rock.

Controls

Desktop

  • Click: mine the rock in the current cave layer

Mobile

  • Tap: mine the rock in the current cave layer

Getting started

  1. Hold the phone sideways, or simply open the game on a computer; Cave Miner is laid out in landscape.
  2. Start mining the first cave layer by clicking on a computer or tapping on a phone.
  3. Collect the ore that layer gives you and note which type it is, since each layer has its own.
  4. Put your earnings into tool upgrades, which are what allow you to mine deeper.
  5. Push down into the following cave layer and repeat, working toward the rarer ores further down.

Tips

  • Upgrade before you stall. When a layer feels slow, better tools are the way down, so spend on them instead of only mining faster.
  • Each layer holds a different ore and the deeper ones are worth more, so treat the top layers as a starting fund for your first upgrades.
  • Watch for the change of ore when you break into a new layer; the type you are mining tells you how far your tools have taken you.

The ore does. The cave is split into several layers, each with a different type of ore, and the deeper ones hold rarer and more valuable finds. Tool upgrades are what get you down there.

Yes, it is an idle clicking game. The focus is on mining steadily, collecting ore and improving your tools to reach new layers. It runs in landscape on both computers and phones, so either works well.
