About Saguaro

Saguaro is a small avoid game starring a Mexican cactus out for a jog. The trouble is his balloon friends, which keep getting in his way; the aim is to keep jogging as long as possible without hitting any of them. It calls itself an elliptical avoid game, and the screen is upright, made for phones held in portrait as well as computer browsers.

Lives are tied to his outfit. Every balloon you hit costs Saguaro one of his beloved items, such as his hat or one of his maracas, so you can tell how much room for error is left just by looking at him. Glowing maracas turn up on the road, and collecting them restores lost lives, which makes each run a balance between dodging and grabbing.

How to play Saguaro

Objective

Keep Saguaro jogging as long as you can without hitting balloons, and collect glowing maracas to win back the hat and maracas he loses with each hit.

Getting started

  1. Hold the phone upright, since Saguaro runs in a portrait layout on phones and computers alike.
  2. Start the jog and watch for balloon friends ahead, steering Saguaro away from every one of them.
  3. Check his outfit after any hit: each balloon knocks away one item, such as his hat or a maraca.
  4. Grab the glowing maracas on the road to restore lost lives before the next balloons arrive.

Tips

  • His hat and maracas double as a life counter, so a missing item tells you at a glance how many hits remain.
  • Glowing maracas restore lives, so detour for one when Saguaro is missing items, but skip it if reaching it means hitting a balloon.
  • A longer jog is the whole goal, so treat dodging as the priority and collecting as a bonus whenever the road is clear.

Saguaro FAQ

What happens when Saguaro hits a balloon?

He loses one of his beloved items, such as his hat or one of his maracas. Each item works as a life, so several hits in a row will end the jog unless you win items back.

How do you get lives back in Saguaro?

Collect the glowing maracas that appear on the road. Each one restores a lost life, which is how Saguaro recovers from balloon hits and keeps his outfit intact during a run.

Does Saguaro work in portrait on a phone?

Yes, portrait is its native layout. It suits phones as well as desktop screens, so hold a phone upright and the road stays fully in view while Saguaro jogs.
