About Fit in the Wall

Fit in the Wall is a reflex game about lining things up. A floating yellow cube waits in front of a stream of walls, and each wall arriving has a cutout pattern with exactly one place the cube can pass through. Your only job is to slide the cube into that spot before the wall reaches it.

There is no room for error. Every correct fit keeps the run going and adds to your score, while a single mismatch ends it on the spot, so a run lasts exactly as long as your accuracy holds. The pace is quick, the walls keep coming one after another, and the target is simply a higher score than last time. Movement is kept to two directions: the arrow keys on a computer, or taps on either side of the screen on a phone, which leaves all of your attention for reading the next pattern.

How to play Fit in the Wall

Objective

Line the yellow cube up with the single correct slot in each approaching wall, stringing together as many clean fits in a row as possible for a high score.

Controls

Desktop

  • Arrow keys: move the yellow cube

Mobile

  • Tap the left side of the screen: move the cube left
  • Tap the right side of the screen: move the cube right

Getting started

  1. Watch the first wall approach and find the cutout in its pattern that matches the position of the yellow cube.
  2. On a computer, press the arrow keys to slide the cube until it lines up with that cutout.
  3. On a phone, tap the left or right side of the screen to nudge the cube in that direction.
  4. Hold the cube in place as the wall passes over it, then look straight away for the slot in the next wall.
  5. Keep fitting wall after wall, knowing that one wrong position ends the run there and then.

Tips

  • Read the next wall's cutout as early as possible, because each wall has only one correct fit and late corrections are where misses happen.
  • Make the smallest move that lines the cube up; overshooting the slot is just as fatal as not moving at all.
  • On a phone, keep a thumb near each side of the screen so either tap is ready the moment a new pattern appears.

Fit in the Wall FAQ

What ends a run in Fit in the Wall?

A single miss. Each wall has exactly one slot that fits the yellow cube, and if the cube is not lined up with it when the wall arrives, the game is over. Every correct fit keeps the run alive.

How do you move the cube when playing on a phone?

Tap the left side of the screen to move the yellow cube left and the right side to move it right. On a computer the arrow keys do the same job, so the controls never go beyond those two directions.

How is the score built up?

By chaining correct fits. Each wall you pass through cleanly adds to the run, so the score depends entirely on how many walls in a row you can match before the first mistake.
