About Undercrown
Undercrown splits every run into two halves. First you pick a hero and fight down through three floors and 18 differently coloured rooms, with the Gravewarden and then the Maw Mother standing between you and the Underking. Beating him and grabbing his crown is only the turning point, because the crown was keeping the mountain standing. From then on you race toward the mine lift while rooms cave in, rock falls, timed doors shut and monsters pour back in.
Eight heroes fight in different ways: the Vanguard's greatsword, the Paladin's sword and shield, Kachujin's bare fists, the Ninja's twin daggers, Erika's crossbow, Medea's staff, the Captain's cutlass and Heraklios's greataxe. Coins banked between runs unlock them. Inside a run, killing enough enemies levels you up and offers one of three upgrades, so builds keep changing. A full run takes six to eight minutes, and Normal, Hard and Nightmare set how rough it gets.

How to play Undercrown
Objective
Get down through the dungeon, defeat the Underking and take his crown, then escape the collapsing mountain to the mine lift and reach daylight still wearing it.
Controls
Desktop
- WASD or arrow keys: move
- Left-click or Space: attack
- Shift: roll
- P: pause
- M: toggle music
Mobile
- Left thumb stick: move
- Attack button on the right: attack
- Roll button on the right: roll
Getting started
- Choose your hero and a difficulty; more heroes become available as you bank coins between runs.
- Fight through the rooms of the first floor, smashing crates and barrels along the way for coins and potions.
- Learn the timing of the spike traps, and roll with Shift or the roll button through attacks you cannot out-trade.
- Level up by killing enough enemies, then choose one of three upgrades; reaching a new floor heals you and adds a bonus upgrade.
- After the Underking falls, grab the crown and head straight back to the mine lift before the collapse catches you.
Tips
- Pick upgrades with the escape in mind, because the run back through falling rock and timed doors is the real fight, not the boss.
- Every new floor heals you on arrival, so drink potions freely late in a floor rather than hoarding them for later.
- Erika's crossbow picks enemies off from a distance while Kachujin fights with bare fists, so choose a hero that suits how close you like to get.
- Spike traps run on a timer, so pause a beat and cross between cycles instead of rolling straight in.
- Bank your coins every run, since they are what unlock the remaining heroes in the roster of eight.

Undercrown FAQ
How long is a run of Undercrown?
A full run takes about six to eight minutes if you survive it. That covers three floors and 18 rooms on the way down, the Underking fight and the escape back up to the mine lift.
What happens after you take the crown?
The mountain starts coming down, because the crown was what kept it standing. The way out to the mine lift becomes a race against caving rooms, rockfalls, doors on timers and a fresh wave of monsters, and only reaching daylight finishes the run.
Can you play Undercrown on a phone?
Yes. Touch controls put a thumb stick on the left for moving, with attack and roll buttons on the right. On a computer you use WASD or the arrow keys, left-click or Space to attack and Shift to roll.
How do upgrades work?
Each time you have killed enough enemies you level up and choose from three upgrades. Reaching a new floor also restores your health and grants a bonus upgrade, so no two runs end up with the same build.
