About God of Light

God of Light is a physics puzzle game about steering light. You play alongside Shiny, a cute glowing mascot trying to save the universe from creeping darkness. Each level hides objects that change how a ray of light energy travels, and the job is to find them, put them to use and guide the beam until it reaches and activates the Sources of Life, bringing light back to that corner of the universe.

The toolkit grows as you go. Prisms, mirrors, splitters, filters, collectors and black holes let you bend, split, reflect, combine, paint and even teleport the rays, and glowing creatures you collect along the way help with tougher puzzles. Levels are spread over themed trees: the Celestial Tree chapter is open from the start, and Fireflies you gather unlock more levels in the Stone, Azure, Frozen and Space Trees. In total there are six game worlds and 150 levels, plus achievements to earn and an electronic soundtrack.

How to play God of Light

Objective

Explore each level, find the objects that redirect light, and steer the rays until they reach and switch on the Sources of Life, pushing back the darkness.

Getting started

  1. Start in the Celestial Tree, the chapter that is open in full from the beginning, alongside the mascot Shiny.
  2. Explore the level to find the objects that can redirect light, such as mirrors and prisms, before routing the beam.
  3. Arrange those objects so the ray of light energy travels all the way to the Source of Life.
  4. Pick up Fireflies and glowing creatures as you go; the creatures help with puzzles and the Fireflies open more levels.
  5. Spend collected Fireflies to unlock further levels in the Stone, Azure, Frozen and Space Trees.

Tips

  • Look over the whole level before placing anything: the objects you need are hidden around it, and finding them is half of each puzzle.
  • When a single ray cannot reach everything it needs to, look for an object that splits or bends it instead of moving the same mirror again.
  • Collect the glowing creatures whenever you can, because their whole purpose is to help you solve puzzles.
  • Gather Fireflies steadily, since they are the in-game way to unlock dozens of extra levels beyond the Celestial Tree.
