About Fortress of the Sinister
In Fortress of the Sinister, every encounter is a turn-based battle. You lead a team of characters through four fortresses, each ten floors high, and every floor means a fight on a grid-based arena. Arenas range from tight 3x3 skirmishes to sprawling 7x7 battles, so the room you have to manoeuvre changes from one encounter to the next.
Your roster is the heart of it: the Night Hunter, the Stone Golem, the Mushroom Priest and other recruits each bring their own abilities, and a team whose skills work together is how you win while losing as little as possible. After each floor you collect treasures, trinkets and currency to buy items and upgrade your team's skills, while meta-progression unlocks new characters and upgrades over time. For the long haul, an ultimate survival mode throws endless challenges at your strongest team.

How to play Fortress of the Sinister
Objective
Win each turn-based fight while losing as few units as possible, build a team that can clear all ten floors of every fortress, then push it further in survival mode.
Controls
Desktop
- Mouse: all movement and actions, with no keyboard buttons needed
Getting started
- Begin with the training at the start of the game, which shows how the mouse handles every move and action.
- Enter the first fortress and look over your team before the opening battle on its grid arena.
- Take turns moving and acting with your characters, using each unit's distinct abilities to win while keeping losses low.
- Collect the treasures, trinkets and currency handed out after the floor, then buy items or upgrade your team's skills.
- Recruit new characters as they unlock and keep climbing until all ten floors of the fortress are conquered.
Tips
- Plan around arena size: a 3x3 grid leaves almost no room to manoeuvre, while a 7x7 arena gives far more space to position the team.
- Mix recruits like the Night Hunter, Stone Golem and Mushroom Priest, since each has distinct abilities that support a different strategy.
- Spend loot after every floor rather than hoarding it, because upgraded skills are what carry the team through ten floors per fortress.
