About Vacation Overload

Vacation Overload turns the last job before a summer trip into a puzzle. The car is ready and the trunk is open, but luggage keeps coming: suitcases, beach bags, souvenirs and a suspicious number of box-shaped essentials. Each piece arrives in a queue, and you have to find it a home inside the trunk, which is laid out as a 3D grid.

Pieces can be turned and tilted in four directions, so fitting them is about rotating, stacking and shuffling until the shapes lock together. A buffer slot holds a piece you are not ready to place, and anything already in the trunk can be lifted out again if the layout needs fixing. The queue keeps moving, though, and a badly placed item can block the space later pieces need, so the game rewards planning a few moves ahead. The tone stays light, playing the chaos of overpacking for laughs.

How to play Vacation Overload

Objective

Fit every piece of luggage from the queue into the trunk's 3D grid, rotating and arranging them so nothing is left over before the pile gets out of control.

Controls

Desktop

  • Click a piece: select it
  • Move the mouse: position the selected piece
  • Left click a spot on the trunk grid: set the piece down
  • Click an empty buffer slot: park the selected piece there
  • Click a placed piece: lift it out again
  • W or Up Arrow: tilt forward
  • S or Down Arrow: tilt backward
  • A or Left Arrow: rotate left
  • D or Right Arrow: rotate right

Getting started

  1. Look at the first pieces waiting in the queue and at the empty trunk grid before placing anything.
  2. Click a piece to select it, then move the mouse to slide it over the spot you want in the trunk.
  3. Turn it with A and D or the Left and Right arrows, and tilt it with W and S or Up and Down, until it fits.
  4. Left click on the trunk grid to drop the piece in place, then select the next one from the queue.
  5. Park an awkward piece in an empty buffer slot, or click a piece already in the trunk to lift it back out when you need to rearrange.

Tips

  • Place the bulkiest pieces early while the grid is still open, leaving smaller bags and souvenirs for the gaps that remain.
  • Use the buffer slot when a piece clearly does not fit yet; storing it buys time without forcing a bad placement that blocks everything after it.
  • Try each rotation and tilt before placing an odd shape, since four keys turn and tilt every piece and another orientation may fit far better.
  • Lift a placed piece back out without hesitation; clicking it picks it up again, which is the way to fix a layout that is starting to jam.

Vacation Overload FAQ

How do you rotate luggage in Vacation Overload?

Use W or the Up Arrow to tilt a piece forward and S or the Down Arrow to tilt it back. A or the Left Arrow rotates it left, and D or the Right Arrow rotates it right.

What is the buffer slot for?

It stores a selected piece you are not ready to place. Click an empty buffer slot to park the piece there, which buys time while the queue keeps moving and you work out where it belongs.

Can you move a piece after placing it?

Yes. Click any piece already in the trunk to pick it up again, then position and place it somewhere else. Rearranging this way helps when an earlier placement is blocking the pieces that follow.

Is Vacation Overload played with a mouse?

Mostly. You select, position and place pieces with the mouse, while W, A, S, D or the arrow keys handle rotating and tilting. Keeping one hand on each makes packing quicker.
