About Crush Hour

Crush Hour is an arcade runner with no finish line, played on a highway the undead have taken over. Your truck handles the driving itself, so every choice is about position: which lane to occupy and when to jump up onto the sidewalk to escape a jam. Zombies in your path are the main source of points, and smashing them builds both score and combos.

Traffic works as both a hazard and a payout. Cars chip a little off your HP and give a few points; trucks hit harder but are worth more. Passing close without contact earns a near-miss reward. Fuel needs watching too, so fuel cans have to be grabbed before the tank empties, and the orange Rampage pickup sets off a smash frenzy. Every run ends in a wreck sooner or later, and your best score is what goes up on the leaderboard.

How to play Crush Hour

Objective

Survive on the endless highway as long as possible, smashing zombies for combos while managing HP and fuel, and set a new best score for the leaderboard.

Controls

Desktop

  • Left Arrow or A: move one lane to the left, or hop onto the left sidewalk
  • Right Arrow or D: move one lane to the right, or hop onto the right sidewalk
  • Spacebar: retry after a wreck

Mobile

  • Swipe left: move one lane to the left, or hop onto the left sidewalk
  • Swipe right: move one lane to the right, or hop onto the right sidewalk

Getting started

  1. Let the truck roll forward on its own; from the first second your only job is choosing a lane.
  2. Press Left Arrow or A and Right Arrow or D, or swipe, to steer toward zombies and away from heavy traffic.
  3. Drive through zombies to score and build combos, and decide whether a car is worth the small HP cost for its points.
  4. Watch the fuel gauge and pick up fuel cans before it empties, grabbing any orange Rampage pickup you pass.
  5. Hop onto a sidewalk when every lane is blocked, then drop back into traffic once the road opens up.
  6. After a wreck, press the spacebar to retry and try to beat your previous best.

Tips

  • Trucks cost more HP than cars but pay more, so ram one only when your health can take the hit, and settle for cars otherwise.
  • Near-misses are rewarded, so slip past a car instead of hitting it when you want points without losing any HP.
  • The sidewalks act as an escape route on each side; use them when the lanes are congested rather than taking a hit.
  • Plan lane changes around fuel cans once the tank gets low; a long zombie combo is worth little if the truck runs dry.

Crush Hour FAQ

How do you steer in Crush Hour on a phone?

Swipe left or right. Each swipe moves the truck one lane over, or up onto the sidewalk on that side. The truck drives forward on its own, so swiping is the only input needed while a run is under way.

What does the orange Rampage pickup do?

It triggers a smash frenzy. Steer into it as you drive and the truck goes on a smashing spree, which makes it a good moment to plow through as many zombies as you can for score and combos.

Does hitting cars hurt your truck in Crush Hour?

Yes. Cars nick your HP and give a few points in return, while trucks do more damage and pay out more. Passing close without touching anything earns a near-miss reward instead and keeps your health intact.

How do you restart after crashing?

On desktop, press the spacebar after a wreck to retry. Every run ends in a wreck sooner or later because the highway has no finish line, so each new attempt is about beating your best score.
